Hard to leave behind…

After experiencing a little island fever, two of us from Eden Events decided to swap Ibiza for Formentera; a well-deserved break and change of scenery was truly needed. So, from one paradise to another we embarked on our weekend adventure…

Formentera is the smallest of the Balearic Islands; it lies just south of Ibiza and is known for its very relaxed vibe. You can arrive in as little as 40 minutes by ferry from Ibiza, so we took the car and Mr Bumble our handsome furry team member and arrived in the port just a little later.

We headed south of the famous Playa de Ses Illetes, just outside of the village San Francisco in the heart of the campo, to the cutest casita.  Beautiful flowers, a small garden, and a choir of birds greeted us at our little weekend home.

We quickly unpacked and headed to Migjorn – a strikingly beautiful beach – and unbelievably it was empty.  People normally go to Formentera simply to relax, spend time lazing on incredible beaches and bathe in the sparkling crystalline waters.  It’s no surprise that Formentera’s idyllic beaches are regularly voted Europe’s best, also ranking in the top ten worldwide.  For (almost) May it is ordinarily a little quiet, but today we are completely alone, in paradise and peace.

As much as Formentera is a top holiday destination, it is also extremely popular for daytime excursions from Ibiza. It’s easy to get around on a rented scooter, electric bike or push bike to explore these beautiful beaches and charming villages.  Hiring a private boat is also an extremely popular day out, and Eden Events concierge team can rent you a perfect motor yacht for the day and show you the wonderful Formentaera boatlife..

We spent the next few days chilling on beaches, and driving out to the famous lighthouses (Far de la Mola and Barbaria).  We stopped to eat delicious Mediterranean food in one of the many excellent restaurants (Restaurant Can Rafalet, which is a laid-back option, with outdoor dining with incredible views). Sundowners followed at the Lucky Bar, where your toes are in the sand as you sip on the best Mojitos. We made new friends in Sa Sequi, one of Formentera’s coolest hangout’s, which is close to the port and a great place for a goodbye drink…  although it’s a place you will find hard to leave behind.

We may – for now – have to leave this small island which dedicates itself to holidaymakers seeking peace, beauty and tranquillity, but we will certainly be back to show our clients a real paradise where time seems to stand still.
